Matt Bright

Matt joined Hill+Knowlton Strategies as an Associate Director in September 2011 and now leads the 30-strong Financial + Professional Services team. The team creates a wide variety of work, from corporate and consumer communications, to content marketing and social media, to corporate and public affairs. Current clients include HSBC, Aon, Bupa, BNY Mellon and Visa Europe.

As well as leading the team, Matt works on a wide range of client briefs, most of which start with helping the client develop their positioning and the messages required to underpin that, and then create or develop the content needed to tell that story to the public and to other stakeholders across as many channels as relevant.

Matt started his career working on the Guardian’s website. He then set up an English-language website for a German newspaper before spending several years working for dotcoms. Having worked in and around digital and social media since 1998, he is a passionate advocate of the possibilities of technology, including beyond consumer to corporate and business-to-business communications.

Matt previously worked at Open Road, where as well as leading the digital and social media practice, he worked for BlackBerry, Orange, Universal Music, HSBC, and Prudential. During five years in London government, Matt spent 18 months lobbying for London in Brussels, and later worked as an adviser to the Mayor of London on technology and digital policy. He led the communications (PR, digital, advertising, marketing) team for the 2008 elections for Mayor of London.

Matt has an MA in English Literature from Trinity College, Cambridge University, and an MA in British Politics from Goldsmiths, University of London. He speaks (increasingly rusty) German.
